About Nikki St. John

After taking my first pole class at the Vertical Joe studio in Atlanta, I was hooked. Every time I learned a new move, I felt a profound sense of accomplishment, especially when I was able to master tricks I never imagined I would be able to do. The other pole dancers at the studio were supportive, encouraging, dedicated and progressive. This was the first time I had ever been around that many women and everyone got along! It was so refreshing.

I wrote Pole Dancer, the first fictional book about pole dancing, after spending three years as an avid poler and two years teaching in pole studios. Whenever I told people about my pole addiction, the entire room would give me their undivided attention. I could almost hear the voices of my theater professors in my mind. Wouldn't that make a great story?

I couldn't agree with them more. So I put my BFA in theater to use and wrote one.

I hope the book is just the beginning. I would love to take this story to a bigger platform and turn Pole Dancer into a play and eventually into a movie and show the world pole dance is here to stay!
