Hi Gemma,

I’m a Sport Rehab specialist from the UK. Although my normal work largely deals with runners and triathletes, my girlfriend is a pole dancer – so I get to treat my fair share of pole injuries too!

I completely agree with pinkladydancer‘s comments re managing acute pain and symptoms with this type of injury, but it seems to me that your problem is more chronic and probably needs some regular strengthening work, perhaps in the cool-down of every pole session.

Here’s a routine of wrist exercises you can use with a light hand weight:

As it’s a bottom hand twisted grip you were using for the troublesome move, I’d suggest also checking your available rotation in your right shoulder. Can you clasp your hands behind your back, under-and-over (and vice versa)?
