6am-10pm we’re busy, busy with kids, busy with work, busy with husbands….where does the time go everyday…it literally slips through your hands. Making time for yourself is so very important. Time to read or watch a show you love and EXERCISE! With so little time to yourself every day, do something you love, something that is good, something to make you….a better, happier you.

Everyone knows that exercise is good for your body, but it’s also good for your soul. When I’m blue, stressed, over-thinking, nothing works like exercise. It works so great doctors will sometime prescribe exercise, rather than drugs as a remedy for depression. I swear, exercise keeps me sane. For so many women, finding the time to work exercise in to a busy schedule seems like just one more thing to do. But here’s the thing, if you give yourself the gift of time, you’ll be soo much better for it.

Give Yourself A Gift

Exercise, why do it? Improved mood, lowered stress, and a better outlook on life, wait, there’s more! Greater self-confidence and inner calm, working out just makes life better — stop thinking of exercise as just one more chore and start perceiving it as an investment in yourself! No matter what stage of life you’re at, making room for a little “me-time” will do wonders for your physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

Everyone needs some time to pursue their hobbies and interests, as well as the activities that make them feel better, but it’s easy to feel like you’re being selfish when you spend time exercising. Here’s why taking time to work out is actually the exact opposite of selfish:

  • You’ll have more energy to do the rest of the stuff you need to do, whether that’s performing at work or spending fun time with your family
  • You’ll increase your overall health and, therefore, your life expectancy, so you’ll be around longer for the people you care about
  • You’ll have lowered stress and anxiety levels, which will improve your mood, which will make you a nicer person to be around
  • You’ll serve as a role model for those around you, from co-workers to family members, to get off the couch and get healthy themselves

Make It Social

It may seem difficult to add exercise to an already busy schedule that juggles work, home life and a social life. One solution: Make working out a component in all three!

Get your besties together and take a class every other day. Enjoy a game of tag or frisbee at the park with the whole family. Working out doesn’t have to mean going to the gym for a (boring) solitary workout on the treadmill. Mix it up! Try something new, something different! Workout with friends– you’ll be more likely to stick with it when you’ve got a built-in support system.

When you shift the way you perceive working out, from a chore that has to be accomplished to a fun, enjoyable activity that provides a whole host of benefits, it might just change your life!
