Beautiful, Younger Looking Skin and Less Bruising!

When it comes to getting gorgeous, you’ve got it down, from your skincare regime to your bi-weekly mani-pedi, the sexy haircut to that hot LBD. But did you know that what you put inside your body has just as much — if not more — impact on how healthy your skin, hair and nails look?

While it’s no secret that eating right is good for you, you might not realize that certain foods pack a nutritional punch that just can’t be matched, even by taking vitamins or other supplements. Among the most powerful foods you can eat to get that glowing skin, lush hair, and amazing nails? Spinach and kale! These fantastic super foods can promote blood to become more viscous and less likely to leak from blood vessels. This especially includes foods containing Vitamin K, the stars Spinach and Kale! There are a million and one reasons why these amazing leafy greens are getting so much scientific, medical and media attention lately — here are a couple.

Antioxidants, Yay!

Dark leafy greens like spinach and kale are packed with antioxidants, those free-radical bounty hunters that gather up all the nasty unstable molecules that like to run rampant in your body, wreaking havoc on your health as well as your youthful skin and hair. Kale and spinach contain antioxidants like vitamin C and beta-carotene, both of which work hard to neutralize free radicals. The antioxidants in these nutritional superstars also help keep skin beautiful by producing metalloproteinases, a type of enzyme that repairs sun-damage and help support your skin’s natural collagen production, which prevents those fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamins, Minerals and All That Good Stuff

Both spinach and kale provide a dizzying range of vitamins and minerals that support healthy skin, hair and nails. Spinach contains vitamins A, B, C, E and K, as well as calcium, lutein, magnesium and iron. Kale’s got the same stuff, along with a healthy dose of protein, potassium, manganese, copper and phosphorous. Your body needs all of these goodies in order to be strong and healthy, as well as maintaining gorgeous skin, hair and nails. And guess what? It’s way easier for your body to absorb these nutrients from foods than from taking supplements.

Eat More!

It’s easy to add more kale and spinach to your diet. Simply pop a handful of washed, chopped leaves in almost any salad, omelet, burrito or soup recipe. You can also braise these veggies with a bit of olive oil and garlic, or shred them and add to pasta dishes. For a healthy snack, slice kale into bite-size pieces, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper, then bake in a 350-degree oven for 12 minutes.

It’s so much better for you than chips!
